LOSTIES! Logo & Banner Competition - DEADLINE APPROACHING!!

Losties! is looking for creative people to show off their graphic art skills. The challenge is to create the main Losties! forum logo, a series of banners, buttons, and a favicon. The following are the guidelines:

1. The main page logo.

Here is the current Losties! logo (size=640x128).

Now imagine it with "IES" added to LOST without the figures in the foreground, extend the dark ground down to allow room for lighter colored text, and you'll get an idea of what we are looking for.

Create versions that include the URL "losties.darkbb.com" and "Theories.Debate.Banter.Humor" (example).

The font that is used is a vertically stretched version of IMPACT.

2. Banners

The banners should be slightly smaller (size 310x64) and should include the URL "losties.darkbb.com".

3. Buttons

Buttons should smaller still. The size will most likely be determined by the affiliate site but you can create examples.

4. Favicons

The favicons should be similar in color to the logo but other than that is totally up to your interpretation. Favicon generators can be found here and here.

All sizes are approximations. Here are a few pictures that may help you:



Remember, these are merely guidelines to get you started. Feel free to flex your creative muscle!

Entries must be submitted before the deadline of June 14th Midnight EST. The winner will be announced at that time and will be able to bask in the glory and satisfaction of having their artwork on display for the whole world to see.

I finally got a version of Photoshop going (would you believe Photoshop 5.5 works on Vista?!?).

Yep! Very nice Jacqui. I Had a feeling you might be interested given your job description. Jax has changed the description a little to read "Theories and Discussion, banter, debate and chat", but you have the right idea.

CF, That's a good question. They could be submitted here or we could start a post called "Logo submissions" and people could post them there.

Favicons are icon files (.ico) so they will need to be saved as something else in order to be seen here or they can be emailed to me.

Once you've saved your Favicon to your computer, you can open it with Paint, and save it as a bitmap. That should work fibe for posting. Granted... they're tiny at typical resolution.

Don't forget, these are just guidelines. Feel free to "draw outside the lines" as it were. Be creative but consistently creative.

Oh, I do. If you notice, immediate new avatar. And part of my entry's already in the gallery section. I had to play with it immediately. Now I'm trying to adapt to the changes from CS2 back to v5.5. 4 generations of downgrading.

See now this is something I would love to participate in because I have a ton of ideas alas, I must decline because I have absolutely no idea how to use Photoshop.

It would be the good time to learn photoshop, though. You have Photoshop 9 on your machine. That one practically draws for itself.
