Thanks for the video link haven`t seen that in a while and yes it does seem to relate. I also liked you`re new imput on the show and relations to the book especialy the comments on Hurley. One question did Richard Albert draw all the pictures or was there another artist?

That's a good question vincent, I'm not sure who did the drawing off the top of my head, but I'll look when I get home from work tonight. I don't think Baba Ramm Dass drew the pictures though.
Thanks for the kind words folks, and thanks to vincentthedog for convincing me to repost this here and thanks to cagedfaraday for getting the amazon link, you guys are all awesome.
I've been reading through the book, and there are a lot of things in there that just talk about enlightenment and having open chakras and stuff, but there was a section in the beginning that was interesting. Richard Alpert had seen an apparition of his dead mother and told no one about it, the next day a guru talked to him about his dream in great detail. Interesting because we get to see so many apparitions on Lost.
There was a poster on LT.com, D_E_SOL I believe, but he was able to break every one of these pictures down and explain its signifigance, but it was posted right before the site came down again. He seemed to know a lot more about buddism and hinduism than I do, I'm more of a science guy myself.

The first time I read this I thought, "Ok dude, don't drink the Kool-Aid just yet."
This is some very compelling stuff. And if you found it on Amazon, I can totally believe J.J. Abrams getting a hold of a copy, and using it as some sort of source reference.
I read an article yesterday, here:
http://www.darkhorizons.com/news08/080618g.php
(hope that works)
He’s making a movie from a “news” article he read in the Home and Garden section of the New York Times!!!
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/12/garden/12puzzle.html#
And he has the cojones to make a new Star Trek movie based on the adventures of a young Kirk and crew. Taking control over what I can only believe is some kind of ultimate Trekker nerd fantasy… being the one who tells the tale of the day Kirk first met Bones and Spock… the first time the warp drive is ever fired up on the Enterprise…( total geeking fuel)
I can’t put anything past Abrams and his crew.

Re: "Be Here Now" by Richard Alpert - pics and theories!
Since the return of LT.com, I was able to chase down the comments by a user named D_E_SOL, who made a great comment that links these idea from Richards book. Here is the comment by D_E_SOL:
"I believe you have cracked the numbers. they refer to pages in the book
where there are lessons we need to learn before we can move on.”Yours
in the Dharma” refers to the Dharmapada which would be the
path/teachings that Buddhists would follow. The Lama Foundation that is
referred to is that of the Dalai Lama Look at my theory if you get time
I explain where they get the Dharma logo from. Namaste translates as “I
greet the Divine within you”This refers to the Divine spark that we all
have inside of us.
The picture of the serpent refers to that of the
Kundalini Serpent which runs along the spine and is the base for the
seven main chakras. the root chakra is that of materialism while the
crown chakra is that of your connection to the Divine. The middle
chakra is that of the heart which is shown in the picture of the heart
cave which is the balance between your higher self and lower self. Its
symbols in the picture are that of infinity and the winged heart which
is a major symbol in the teachings of Sufism which would be the mystic
side of Islam. To move yourself to the astral plane you need to balance
all these chakras.
The lotus flower which it is on is a symbol in
buddhist teachings while the star of David/Seal of Solomon with the
flames coming out of it is the spark of the Divine that is referred to
when you say Namaste. On the page titled From Bindu to Ojas this is a
picture of a major Buddhist temple. It is made up of 108 pieces which
is symbolic of 108 sins. Also there are 108 acupressure points in
chinese medicine. (pg103) This is why Desmond has to wait 108 minutes
to press the button to realise the electromagnetic pulse which
symbolises the negative energy being built up on the island. Om which
you use in the mantra Aum mani padme hum to connect to the Divine has a
frequency. Why mantras are used is because of the vibrational frequency
that the spoken word has. This is why his book says your mechanism’s
have to be tuned to the frequency.
The picture of the Buddha with no
face is because anyone can become a Buddha/Bodhisattava. When you reach
this state you exist in everything and also nowhere hence the word in
the title of his book. richard ALPERT in the series IS A bodhisattava.
A Bodhisattava is someone who has reached the stage of enlightenment
but has chosen to stay on the earthly plane to help others on their
path. This is portrayed by him not aging. This is referred to on page
eight of your pictures and the hieroglyphics symbolise the journey that
has to be taken to reach this point.
The eye of Ra watching the journey
is the Divine guiding us on our path. This is also shown by the empty
chair and the bible quote. Also on the cover of the book where the
metatron matrix is in front of the chair ie you may not see Him but He
touches every part of your life. last picture is talking about
reincarnation. Would like to hear your opinion of my interpretation."

Great adds Lost_Dbutz! I have been practicing Kundalini and yoga for a while and this all makes perfect sense.
I don`t belive the book is the be all end all to the Lost mythology but I do think the writers made it a big part of there story telling.
