Re: Debate Club - Time for a Challenge
OK Rules:
1. Each debater gets 1000 words to lay out their argument.
2. Both Sides of the debate should be posted as close as possible to each other. The time for posting to be decided between the two. Perhaps we could PM them both to SBP and she could post them on one poll thread.
3. Once the initial arguments are posted there will be 48 hours for debate and voting
4. After 48 hours the winner will be decided.
5. Obviously one vote per person
Did I miss anything? I'm sure there were more rules than that.
SBP can you do a poll with multiple options? If so we could put up a list of possible debates and have a vote to see which gets done?
AC no not yet still frustrated at lack of MK action!!!

Ok Vincent first of all it would be 360 vs Wii and secondly the wii would completley win. It would be a walkover.

Haha agreed. I also own the 360, but not a PS3. No point to owning a PS3. Especially at it's price!

Re: Debate Club - Time for a Challenge
yea! debate club is back, Lojozz, I like the ide of PM-ing the arguments to SP so they could be in the same posting. That way all of the questions, answers and arguments are in the same place and members won't have to bounce back and forth between different posts.
A few topics I came up with that I think I posted on LT:
Charles Widmore, not Ben Linus, actually staged the flight 815 wreckage?
Can the island mysteries be explained scientifically?
Is the interconnectedness of the Lost characters one created by the island or not?
or,
Is Ben actually a "good guy" or not
Is "flash-foward, messed up Jack" the real Jack. i.e. is the alcoholic Jack that we have seen really what Jack is or is that what he would have become anyway even without his encounter with the island. Was it his destiny to self destruct or did his island experiences cause it...I think it was his real destiny.
And, of course, will Lojozz put ME in the coffin for posting another coffin theory last night.

Re: Debate Club - Time for a Challenge
Here are my two cents:
I like MSHL's idea of whether the island orchestrated the connections of the characters, or was it just a coincidence
and
Is the smoke a natural phenomenon or a man-made one

Re: Debate Club - Time for a Challenge
I happen to know Lozz is extremely keen on arguing the Spiritual vs Scientific aspects of the Island, and Lost.
Heh.
But back on Planet Serious, I think I'd really like to see a good meaty debate on the Interconnectedness idea. Namely:
Were the related, and historically linked, passengers of Oceanic 815 on the plane by random coincidence, or intentional design?
(The argument would have to be careful to keep to the "related" and "linked" elements though, because it could very easily become all about whether the crash of Oceanic 815 was intended or not - a subject which this topic is clearly, ah, related!

Re: Debate Club - Time for a Challenge
Some good ideas coming out. Personally I like the idea of debating whether Jack would have become beardy, mostly because I already wrote a theory on this called 'The crash mearly delayed Jack's beard' (or something like that) sadly though we both seem to like the same side.
Interconnectedness - man thats gonna be tough in 1000 words.
Ben or Widmore planting the plane - I don't know if there is enough meat in that one.
Is Ben actually a good guy might be quite good fun.
A few ideas from me:
Did Des kill Charlie?
Did Ben manipulate Jack into calling the freighter?
Who was the otehr person Sun said was responsible for Jins death? (Just trying to head this of before it replaces the coffin as the most annoying theory ever)

Re: Debate Club - Time for a Challenge
The Polls are a good idea, I am personally curious to know how many users like to check LOST spoilers out?
I most certainly do NOT check them out, spoiler by name and spoiler by nature, I like my jaw to drop as I am watching the show itself.
But I am interested to know why some people do like to watch them, and are they in the same league as the people who turn to the back pages of Agatha Christie books after chapter 4 to find out whodunnit?
The 'I watch spoilers' crowd must find LOST, the most cerebral mystery ever, the hardest thing they have ever had to cope with!
NO SPOILERS! They are my second most un-favourite thing after Trolls.
Surprise is the name of the game!

Exactly who is the challenger? Whoever it is I say they pick the topic they like the best, pick the side they wish to argue and throw down the gauntlet so we can get this show on the road!

Re: Debate Club - Time for a Challenge
That might be quicker than doing a poll and then deciding a challenger.....I say the challenger steps forth and declares him/herself
