I'm open for challenges!!!

I am open for challenges. I probably won't be ready for a week or two but I am ready to hear everyone thoughts. If I think that there is a really good one, I may be ready even sooner. The crown is still to new for the power to go to my head, but I can assure you that that will change!! BRING IT ON!!!

Good on ya. Lojozz is going off on holiday in a big, crownless, debate-losing sulk. . . but Debate Club lives on!

Hope, how does it work? Do you choose the topic and pick the side or is it up to the challenger, or is it a mutual decision?

Sorry, but I haven't been very active in the debate club or in the voting process. But I think I am going to start participating. It looks like some good healthy competition.

I'm gonna send the debate ruels to Jax and let her post them for us all to read.

Here's how a challenge goes.

Challengers issue challenge to champion via a posting with two or three topics and the side of each topic they wish to take.

The champion picks the topic they want or none at all if they don't want to debate any of those topics.

When the champion finally chooses the topic they want the starting time is chhosen and the debate is on.

Ok, I am putting a challenge out there for the Champ. Here are some choices to pick from Hope, or dismiss them all if you don't like them.

I hope nobody minds that I stole them from the previous challenge post. There were some good, unused topics out there.

1) Is Jack a coward or a hero? Even though I may be handcuffing myself with all the Jack Haters around here I would argue that he is a hero.

2) John Locke - Murder or Suicide? I would argue suicide.

3) Claire - Dead or Alive? I would argue alive.

I would like to issue a challenge too

1/ Is Jack a hero or a coward - I would argue coward.

2/ Are the properties of the island (healing, dreams etc) spiritual or scientific in nature - I would argue spiritual

3/ Is Jacob real or a psychosomatic manifestation - I would argue manifestation

If you accept my challenge, then one of the mods will need to post the two sides of the debate to ensure fairness

I do like them all, but none of them are speaking to me yet. I won't let it drag out though and I will pick one within 2 weeks

Hey SP, here is a totally random thought. Feel free to shoot it down.

Do you want to have a debate between you and I? It will be kind of like a #1 Contender debate for the chance to face Hope. Since I think Jack is a hero and you think he is a coward it wouldn't be very hard to find a topic.

Since Hope needs a couple weeks off after the big victory over Lojozz, I figured this might be a good way to pass the time.

Whadya think?

I just need a break because I am going on vacation, and while I will have my laptop, I didn't think it fair to be on it all the time. thats all. But I am game for whatever

Irocz thats a tempting offer, but as its up to the Champ to decide who he/she takes on, I dont think it would be fair to debate in her absence for the chance to face Hope

Ok this isn't an offficial title Challenge, but I'll throw a few ideas out there.

As Irocz suggested Jack, Hero or Coward
DHARMA, Did they deserve to be purged
Christian Shepherd, With Jacob or against him
Ben, Manipulating Oceanic 6 to get back on the island, or trying to get back to the island

I can't wait for the next debate, but don't feel under pressure Hope. Take your time.

Some of those are pretty cool topics HSM. I really like the one about Christian being with or against Jacob.

But I think we have to be careful with that one and some like it because there is so little supporting evidence either way on them. Debating conjecture with almost nothing to support it becomes a contest on who's theory sounds better, not who argues the facts better.

Something like the one about Jack being a coward or not works better I think because we have four years of actions to use in gathering supporting evidence.

Does this make any sense?
