HELP!! I spilt a glass of red wine on the carpet.
I am putting this in this section because it will help my interpersonal relations. I hope!
Last night I spilt a glass of wine on the carpet, the colour of the carpet is cream/off white. It is a wool mix and although as soon as it spilt i got a cloth and wiped it up and spent some time on it, today there is a very light pink stain!
I have tried using dishwashing liquid but that does not work!
If anyone can suggest a method for cleaning the stain it would be really appreciated.

Re: HELP!! I spilt a glass of red wine on the carpet.
I once heard that you were supposed to spill white wine over the red wine stain to counteract the stain properties.
It sounded like a myth then, and it reads like one now.
Surely there must be a can of something in a supermarket/store near you that has the words 'stain remover' written on it in big letters. Being a man, practical in the face of ignorance, that would be what I'd do.

AC, thanks for your help, now how do I get rid of the white stain on my carpet?
Actually just joking as I was not game to try that method. However that website had Brenda use prewash stain remover.
So I have sprayed the stain with that. Hopefully that will work. Thanks Occam.

Hi Guys, the stain on the carpet is now almost all gone so that unless you are looking for it, you would not really notice that it had red wine spilt.
Vincent that spray looks like the perfect product but I am sure they do not sell that in Australia!
Tracker I will try to get some peroxide and give that a go too.
HSM: I guess your method is a one use only one though!
SOAY Are you really sure Peanut Butter will work? I don't have any peanut butter at the moment but I do have vegemite, I wonder if that would do just as well!
Thanks to everyone and thanks to Nino, your thoughtfullness is muchly appreciated!
