Episode Synopsis: Jin is back, but is in bad shape. Juliet and the others try to nurse him back to health and at the same time are wondering just where he was. Follow along as Jin, in a unique way, recounts his time since the freighter explosion.

Once again, to go along with my literary themed titles... I think Heart of Darkness fits almost perfectly here:

This highly symbolic story is actually a story within a story, or frame narrative. It follows Marlow as he recounts, from dusk through to late night, his adventure into the Congo to a group of men aboard a ship anchored in the Thames Estuary. (From Wiki)

This too is a story within a story. It is a Jin flashback which allows the other stories to be played out. The theme of the book is the journey into degradation of human morality through Marlow's symbolic journey towards the "heart of darkness." I think that we see Dharma went wrong, very wrong, in trying to improve humanity leading them to venture towards the heart of darkness.

More literally, the title refers to the island and how it drove her (you know who I mean) to the complete edge and to the "heart of darkness."

What do you guys think?

Very clever how you pulled Jin, Leonard and Roussous team together! I will be interested to see how Jins time travelling is explained, and what the letter to Charlotte meant! Good job

You know, i was totally skeptical about how this episode would pan out... I just re-read it myself after not looking at it for two days (before that I looked at it like... everyday for about a week straight) and I have to say, I am pretty proud of it... It maybe my best to date... minus 5.7 which I kinda fell in love with.

This one was a biotch to write because of all the facts we already had about Danielle. It was a really fast paced episode with a lot of action and quick dialogue, but the part where Danielle is talking to Robert (if you picture it in your head) is really quite emotional...

Sorry, I'm patting myself on the back for this one. My goal was to answer as many of Danielle's backstory questions as possible without posing too many new ones. I added Radzinsky, Sam and Leonard because, well... I think they really did have something to do with the island because they heard the transmission of the numbers in '88 and Danielle recounted part of her team as "being obsessed with the numbers and going to work on them right away." Sounds like Leonard who is pretty dang obsessed with those numbers, eh?

Putting Jin into the mix was a bit difficult because he could never be seen by Danielle (due to paradox issues)... but it will all be explained, maybe not as soon as you would like, but by the end of the season it will be.

JW, terrific as usual. I really liked this episode.. Help me with this one. Who is Sam Toomey? wasn't he from Find815? If, so how does he fit in with Rousseo in 1988?

Sam Toomey is the guy who was with Leonard when Leonard heard the numbers in the Pacific in 1988. Hurley went to Australia to find Sam Toomey, but his wife told Hurley that he had died (shot himself in the head) because the numbers were cursed. That is the reason Hurley was in Australia and wound up on 815. I'm glad you liked!

"Sam used the numbers to win $50,000 in a "Guess the Number of Beans" (within 10) contest at the fair in Kalgoorlie." Martha said the jar "must have been big as a pony, and it's filled to the rim", commenting that the man "had been running the same scam for 40 years and nobody had ever come close" until Sam hit it exactly by using all the Numbers (4,8,15,16,23,42).

On their way home from the fair, Sam and his wife were hit head-on by a truck that blew a tire on the highway, and Martha lost her leg, while Sam escaped without a scratch. Toomey blamed that, as well as future unlucky occurrences, on the Numbers. Those occurrences continued until he committed suicide "to end the curse".

JW,are you saying you have season 5 completed already, or do you just know how you are going to explain Jins' time traveling ? How soon are you going to have 5.7 ready?

KSJ, 5.7 is going to be out tomorrow. I'm spacing them 2 days apart... someone said I should only put 1 out a week that way it would 4 months and tide them over closer to the start date, but I think if I did that then people would lose interest. Besides, I already have 6 of them out....

I have the whole thing (for the most part with some minor details still unclear -you will see that I have an idea of where i'm going by the end of 5.7 because I kinda lock in some important events-) mapped out in my head and all written down, however, I am only one ahead. So, I am halfway done with 5.8. I want to see everyone's feedback from these episodes that way, if you guys don't like something then I can amend my overall story arc.

This has to be my favorite JW Lost episode yet! 'Bout time someone gave us a Rousseau Flashback!

Had quite the read-a-thon to 5.7, but this one especially stood out. The storytelling, the characters you brought back/tied into the plot, well, it all worked beautifully for me... even though you surprised me with Horace's character.

Nice, thanks! This one just worried me because I crammed a lot in, I mean a lot... by adding Sam and Leonard to the backstory it could have been a little much, but it is important that Leonard is seen on the island in future episodes... so it had to be done.

And also I've just realised that It'll be harder for Jin to communicate with the others without Sun.

The Dawn Treader is from the Narnia series, I know this as I'm one of the only four people in the entire world who's read all seven, nice forshadowing in a previous episode where Charlotte reads that book to her (sisters?)

Sam Toomey! I guess these are guys connected to the numbers and the island.

How is Rousseau 7 months pregnant?? And Horace is dead.

Is that a flashback that you didn't tell us about... I don't get it

Oh and before I forget I think Jin needs to be a little less good at English.
