What do I do for a living?

Post by tracker on Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:24 pm

I’ve often wondered what our members do for a living. When I read the posts, my mind makes a mental picture of the writer and gives them certain attributes. Sometimes I am given some help with photos posted. I gather small tidbits of information and add them to my mental file. One thing that goes thru my mind is “what do they do when they are not posting”? How do they pay the rent?

Let me give an example:

I really enjoy MSHL posts. His posts are well written and can be very funny. He can argue science with the best here. I’ve often wondered what a person like this does for a living. I only have a few facts. He lives in North Carolina, 45 years old, has a pretty wife that hates Lost, works nights (Graveyard shift?), and cuts off body parts on a regular basis. He seems to have above average computer skills and is an excellent debater. The night shift clue should give me something.

If I were to guess (which I am) I would guess some type of IT job. Big companies need computer guys 24/7. But maybe he works for NASA (in NC??) nah!

Let me suggest a little game. Call it Guess my profession. I will go first. Anyone can play. I don’t post all that often so I haven’t been giving too many clues. I will give you 5 possibilities.

I am one of the following:

1) Civil Engineer

2) Arborist

3) State highway construction supervisor

4) Private Investigator

5) Own a Sporting goods store

Well with a user name like tracker and the way you piece together information would seem to suggest PI, but something makes me want to say Arborist so I'm going to.

The prize is the satifaction that you were right.

I would make a "I guessed Tracker's occupation" avatar, but I don't know how.

The winner is......................................................

Vincent!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Private Investigator and a retired Police Detective.

Now we need another volunteer. Who will come forward and give us 5 possible occupations and see if we can guess theirs?

Vincent, One of those sounds familiar to me. I think you might have made a reference to someone moving down the block??

I'n not sure but will sit back and make a guess later.

If I going to cheat, I will cheat at the end!

Well Vincent, judging by the last two occupations I would have to guess that you are the Village People!

Vincent I will have to say Chiropractor since only people who are a Chiropractor can actually spell Chiropractor. ( I copied and pasted it)

I was torn (yes, horribly torn) between massage therapist and Chiropractor. Since I don't want to share my winnings with MSHL, my guess is massage therapist.

Tell me I'm right.
