From DarkUfo - SPOILER from Season 5

Hi Cosmic, I read that when the Frozen Donkey Wheel was turned by Ben at the end of last season, it kicked 'the island' back in time to the "Dharma Days".

Should be very interesting. It kind of reminds me of how the Mayans used similar formations to form their calender.

Yes it does in a way. Wonder what kind of "device" Alpert was using.

I'll guess, a sextant. I can believe Alpert having one of those on the island. Heck, right now i'll even believe him having a Garmin stashed somewhere.

Yes....sextant would be in keeping with the Black Rock ship.

The formation looks very much like some of the formations at stonehenge, which is theorised to have been a time keeping device. Where the sun or moon appeared through the hole, would tell the time of year. I guess this could work in a similar way....however I have no idea what a sextant is so off to google it.....

i wikipedia'd it myself, and i think a sextant is probably right... i'm such a shocker, i can't stop reading spoilers. bad me!

Darkufo just posted a photo of Vincent taken by someone in Hawaii where they are filming a beach scene. It's of Sawyer and Juliet. They also said they heard someone asking if Rose had a microphone on.

and so it begins... the news from Oahu will be coming in at a furious pace, if you like to surf the web for any news(spoilers?) there is concerning the filming of season 5....and I do !

I saw the Vincent one on DarkUFo... I would take it with a grain of salt because anyone could have put thier yellow lab on the beach, snapped a photo and then made up a story. Hopefully, its true though because I am in love with Rose... and I want her in every episode from here on out.

Ah ha!! If that is a stonehenge type of building, then wouldn't the island have to be in the same place? Moved in time but not in location? If stonehenge was picked up and moved to California, the sun and constellations wouldn't line up with any of the stones anymore, right?

funny........I could almost hear that "Ah ha!!" You bring up an excellent point there Lateralus. It would be pretty tricky re-aligning stones to correspond to the moon or planets. What I was wondering though is how could they measure what year? It must be by measuring the placement of the constellations. Your "Ah ha!!" and line of thinking had my brain go "Ah ha!!" too.

North star? (since compasses don't seem to work too well.......)

If they are in the Southern Hemisphere then there would be no North Star... WHICH PROVES A POINT I MADE ON LT!!! I will make it again here...

Karl said to Sawyer in S3 that he and Alex would sit in his back yard and look at Ursa Theodorus... Well, I looked it up and Ursa Theodorus would be "The Great Bear" and the only constalation in the sky known as the "Great Bear" would be "Ursa Major" which is only seen in the Northern Hemisphere... that would have to mean that the island was in the Northern Hemisphere and not the South Pacific, UNLESS the island used to be in the Northern Hemisphere when Alex and Karl were younger and since moved....

When looking it up Ursa is referred to bear, either major or minor... both in the Northern Hemisphere....

Soooo think about that. Do I have anything there?

The teddy bear is an item which was owned by Emma. Her brother, Zack, held it after the plane crashed in "The Other 48 Days" while his sister was injured. It was later possibly seen being carried by a young Other when Eko and Jin were for Michael in "...And Found".
It was also seen in Eko's dream with Ana Lucia in "?".
It is seen again in "Stranger in a Strange Land[/url]", being shared once more between Zack and Emma on Hydra Island. In the same, Karl tells Kate and Sawyer that he and Alex used to sit in his back yard and make up names for the constellations. He points to one that is not yet visible and says that when it becomes visible it will be "Ursa Theodorus" - the Teddy Bear.
