Did Ben call or observe Smokie??

A quick question!

In "The Shape of Things to Come", when Ben exits his secret tomb room, rather than Hurley's suggestion that Ben had 'called' the monster, I thought he had gone and watched the short-term future play out.

When he came out he had specific instructions for, where to stand, which way to run, when to run etc.

Did anyone else think he had 'observed the future' somehow more than created it?

If this is the case could he have observed all future short-term events surrounding Keamy, is that how he knew Keamy was at the Orchid without seeing him and he can say with confidence "How many times do I have to tell you, John? I always have a plan"

I like the thinking - but I still prefer the idea that Ben went and 'summoned' Smokey as a result of the 'rule change'. The fact that Ben came back filthy suggests he went and got his hands dirty down in the Cerberus Vents. . .

I think Ben knew where Keamy was due to the information that was signalled back to him via the mirror. I guess he was signalling Alpert, but whoever it was informed him that Keamy and his men had already arrived at The Orchid.

Hmm I like it. I think. But like AC I still think he 'called' smokey.

Ben knew that Keamy would be going to the orchid but he did seem surprised that they were already there. So I'm not sure thats what the messadge was. I read that he signalled seize which I took to mean Kate and Sayid.
