So-Lost and Tracker - I think you're both right.
I've now seen the episode three times and noticed other moments (Desmond's dubbing during a moment where Michael decided to freeze the battery appeared to be extra dialogue added in for him to say while his back was turned, for example) that show, a little, about how quickly the episode was pushed through in time.
It's still a remarkable episode - and occasionally the haste by which it is made and the restraints (it is just a TV show!) upon it - mean some parts end up looking a little fake (like leaning out of the helicopter checking for bullet holes, for example).
It's still leagues ahead of other shows, in my book. And The Freighter explosion and the disappearing Island all looked great.
And I didn't have a problem with the look of the 'donkey wheel' scene, either. I actually thought Michael Emerson did a great job in selling the effort required to turn it and the pain it was causing him.

I agree AC, and lets not forget the writers strike that must have caused no ends of problems for them. The donkey wheel scene had me in tears almost, he is a superb actor.

Brazilian Portugese might indicate Penny's listening station was in Antarctica. Then again, I don't know if that really makes any difference at this point.lockeko wrote:great points and comments. Thats a great point about Brazilian Portuguese, Shion, perhaps the island has moved closer to South America.

Wow... replace that dinosaur with a polar bear, and that could be it. Land of the LOST???shamballa wrote:puchita wrote:
Did anyone notice this bad shot of Jack when they were on the raft? It was just a face shot, poor quality, looks like it was filmed inside - everyone else looked their usual glowy, zit free selves. Jack just looked greasy and old. Looks cheap.
Reminds of the cheesy blue screen stuff in the old Saturday morning classic "Land of the Lost".

AC and Jax - you are right...I was just making an observation...picking things apart for no other good reason other than self-amusement!
I LOVED the episode, flaws and all, for sure. My teenage nephews are in town for a visit and they were teasing me because of all the *gasps* and "NO WAYS!" I was shouting!

Re: Funky Frozen Wheel!!!
Yeah, the leaking helicopter fuel tank seems rather strange. My first though was, why didn't anyone notice it leaking on the ground before they took off? Then I rewatched the dvd copy, and noticed that there wasn't any sign of leaking fuel when the copter took off. Sooo convenient for it suddenly to start leaking in mid-air. And then there is the strangeness that this might be the only time in a TV action drama that firing a gun into a fuel tank doesn't result in a huge horrific explosion... lol...

Re: Funky Frozen Wheel!!!
I wondered why Sayid couldn't have grabbed the duct tape and leaned out, with someone holding onto him, and taped it up mid-air. He could have easily reached that!
But hey, who are we to argue with poetic licence

Since when can you patch a whole in a fuel tank with duct tape anyway?!? What is this, MacGuyver?SunburnedPenguin wrote:I wondered why Sayid couldn't have grabbed the duct tape and leaned out, with someone holding onto him, and taped it up mid-air. He could have easily reached that!

What did he use then? Whatever that silver tape was that he used on the freighter to patch it up, came from the back of the copter

Naw, MacGyver wouldn't have needed duct tape - just 6 playing cards, 12 inches of dental floss, and a hair pin.

Re: Funky Frozen Wheel!!!
Sort of, pengy. McGyver was a popular US TV series in the 90's. The guy could get out of just about any tricky situation by using common items in a novel way, or using some sort of trick device he conveniently would always be carrying just in case.
As for duct tape, the saying goes that it's good for just about anything except ducts. The silver variety is actually good for ducts - it has a metal backing and adhesive that can take the heat and dryness long after duct tape as shriveled up and blown away. However, when I was sailing duct tape was a de riguer item on most boats. It actually seals up holes in hulls very well, for longer than one might imagine. But then heat and dryness is not a problem there. But I don't think it would withstand gasoline, which would quickly dissovle the adhesive. And as we saw in the finale, the gas tank started leaking again despite the McGyver fix.

Re: Funky Frozen Wheel!!!
And while we're talking duct tape (again), allow me to point out that it's just like the Force in Star Wars; there's a dark side and a light side - and it holds everything together.
