This may shock most of u as i actually grew up just down the road from where Paul McCartney was born... and i can't stand him.

It irks me that people have to call him Sir Paul. I'll stop now in case any of you avid Beatles fans hunt me down and murder me!

I actually feel Paul is one of the more down-to-earth musicians out there. I'm sure he's got all sorts of luxuries that most of us can only dream of, but in my opinion, he (and his mates) changed the face of music for the better. Sure, they weren't the only ones, and their name carried them further than their music alone probably could have, but they revolutionized everything from studio techniques (back-masking, flange, use of tape loops, introduction of "unconventional" instruments) to hairstyles. Their music holds up just as well today as the day it was recorded.

The "Sir" I add to his name when I say it (even though it's occasionally in jest) is well-earned as far as I'm concerned.

I'll always have a soft spot for John, though.

I guess it's not his birthday over there in Liverpool anymore, though.
