Radio Signals are important Empty Radio Signals are important

Let me start this topic off with a beach scene, Sayid and Hurley listening to the radio, playing is the Glen Miller Orchestra and the musical piece is The Moonlight Serenade

HURLEY: Whoa, you hear how clear that is? It's got to be close, right?

SAYID: Radio waves at this frequency bounce off the ionosphere. They can travel thousands of miles. It could be coming from anywhere.

HURLEY: Or, anytime. Just kidding, dude.

What if this broadcast was actually from the past?

Doc Ray's body washed up on shore even before he was killed? Or did this happen in that order?
Maybe it was presented to make it look like that, what if the radio signal was what travelled in time?

In the Popular Mechanics magazine Carlton and Damon has this scoop

DL: Here's the scoop for Popular Mechanics: According to the rules of our show, a communication between sat phones is not affected by temporal distortion, but if you were to send a radio broadcast and/or a telegraph message, it would be affected by temporal distortion. That's the scoop for Popular Mechanics and Popular Mechanics only, and it will make a lot more sense after you've seen the first episode back.

The first episode back had the body of Doc Ray wash ashore!!!!!!

At comic con, the top secret video was of a broadcast made 30 years ago!

So does this mean that a video was made 30 years ago and has been hidden away until now, or does it mean that some video had been magically transported to the present day from 30 years ago OR is it the transmission of the video that is being effected by this temporal distortion.

Maybe the moonlight serenade broadcast arrived on the island years after it was initially broadcast and maybe this video transmission has been so accurately broadcast from the island that it also has a 30 year distortion.

I think that some of the answers lie with this temporal distortion of radio signals.

I agree Stitch! I always thought that was a hint that Hurley dropped.

You asked "So does this mean that a video was made 30 years ago and has been hidden away until now, or does it mean that some video had been magically transported to the present day from 30 years ago OR is it the transmission of the video that is being effected by this temporal distortion."

Dr. Candle says that the mere fact that we are seeing the video is proof that their research is valid. I took that to mean that they sent either the video tape in time or the transmission.

Which raises another critical issue is the transmission then broadcast on a special frequency that they know will be used in 2008, or if a video is sent, how do they know that it will be picked up by the appropriate persons?

Maybe in the same way that Faraday seems to know the future before it happens. I'm not sure how, but it seems that he does.
