Dont worry KSJ, its nice to wish people a happy holiday whatever it may be and nothing to feel bad about. Everyone has been cool enough to agree to disagree before any bad feelings arose so no harm done here

I think that's one thing no one can disagree with - this is a day to give a HUGE thank you to all our past and present brothers and sisters who are serving or have served for our freedom. Today is their day. My heart goes out to anyone who's got someone overseas right now putting themselves on the line for us. My brother is in the Army, and there were too many times it looked like he was definitely getting shipped out to Afghanistan or Kuwait. Fortunately he's still here, but I know too many young people have not been so lucky. Here's hoping our heroes make it home safe - and soon.

my cousin is about to go on his 2nd tour and my uncle is already on his second tour. Its nerve wracking, but they want to do it for us, and I appreciate it everyday!! So ditto Arzt

Yeah, but we have corporations obsessed with worker productivity here and we only get 1-2 weeks vacation plus 40-50 hour work weeks so it evens out.

no prob Solar. Up north now. Went to Niagara Wednesday. drove 1100 miles in two days...not gonna do that again.

flippin 'ell! you know how small our UK island is, well I thought driving to Scotland from London was a long drive, about 400 miles and I was there for a fortnight and dreaded the drive back......so 1100 miles is just unthinkable to us little islanders!

Solarchap, in Australia 1100 miles is no big deal, that is roughly the distance between our closest cities, eg Brisbane and Perth are 4363 km apart. Though from here (Melbourne) to Sydney is only 900 km.

SBP if you feel like chiding my chauvinist mind, it would be well deserved! but 1100 miles offers a man an escape!

Alls I'm sayin' is that I ate too many hamburgers over the Independence Holiday.

That and there are far too many big women in this country who wear stretch pants. (I'm big so I can say that. Plus, I know how to dress according to my body proportions. yup. No back-boobs here I tells ya.)

Or at least have a clearly printed weight limit. But banned altogether would be good. While we're at it, weightlifter pants. OK, Independence Day is probably your best time to get away with your American Flag weightlifter pants, but really... no. If you've become so drastically disproportioned from lifting weights that you can no longer wear normal pants... don't buy different pants, change your workout!

Because my dear Penguin, there are millions of American men who find larger women attractive, so designers play to this particular sub-culture.

I could never wear a tube top, not because I am ashamed of how I might look, but because they don't look good on anyone over the age of five.
