Honestly, I think I look back at age 18 most fondly. The one year I did spend in college was filled with the most memorable and new experiences - although very few of them were academic ones, which led to that only being one year. Throughout high school, I was generally unhappy, as everything was a bit of a popularity contest (which I never won). There were some bonds I made in high school which are still solid to this day, but college presented a fresh start and a lot of more open-minded people. I often wish I could live that year again (and I'd go to class a lot more if I could, too).

Occam, I really appreciate that, even though you may not have meant it that way, I will take it as a very nice compliment. Very Happy

Yeah, I'm dropping Art, Dt definatley and probably Geography, I'm not sure how many I get to drop. I probably want to go and do Engish and Maths at sixth form and maybe History or Physics.

SunburnedPenguin wrote:My youngest turns 13 on thursday so is in the same year as you, and looking forward to dropping some subjects that she hates. Smile

Yep I've been counting down the days since I came to high school.
I think your youngest must be in the year below me becuase I'm only barley in my year. Maybe they choose a year earlier. scratch

Well, as any regular Hobbit would tell you, compliments are --of course-- not true. So that wasn't one, okay? Laughing

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Im a hobbit freak. I want to buy a plot of land in in West Wales (Erid Luin to be precise - Middle Earth was based on Wales....I currently live in Gondor) and build a hobbit holiday village.....how cool would that be!

Oh no you don't! Next you'll say 'But I don't have the money Sad' then I say 'I have some money' and you take my money and run off somewhere. I'm not falling for it. Very Happy

What would be the height restrictions in this West Wales "Hobbit Village?"

Seriously... you would need height restrictions because you would get lawsuits from tall people who suffer brain damage from hitting their heads off the tops of the doorways in all of your public buildings.

So your "Hobbit Village" is really... in essence, a "Giant's Village." Because it would be big enough for giants, but make us feel tiny and cute?

I meant tiny AND cute... I know we are already cute, but we aren't tiny.....

I think I saved myself nicely there.

SP, I can't believe it before Lost I was completely obsessed with "Lord of the Rings"
I have all of the DVD's. When they had the tour with a lot of the props, I went and I simply love Aragorn, and of course Merry & Pippin too. I have a picture Of my daughter and I taking turns at being Hobbits. Cool

Haha Occam, true.....but the movies did introduce Tolkiens world to a lot of people who went on to read not only the original books, but his other amazing work too. People who would have otherwise missed out on the glorious world that is Middle Earth.

I love the movies, and they do capture the essence of the original story, even if a lot of lore is missed out. I love the way they portray the close bonds between the hobbits without making it seem homo-erotic....well not much anyway Very Happy

I loved my childhood. didn't need to study. didn't need to work to earn money.

I also loved it when i was 22 cos I married to the love of my life.

As of now, it's hard to study and work at the same time. especially my job. it's very difficult, time consuming and technical. I need more money to be able to enjoy myself more and pay for the mortgage! I look forward to future and especially my 30s.

After I saw the first two movies I read all the books. It was at an unhealthy age though. I was in year 4 I've read them three or times since then.... I like books. Smile
