Lost all around us?

Hi guys,

In a book I'm reading at the moment an old moneylender called Anayona lives with her sister Lizaveta and the protagonist Raskolnikov sees that it would be better if the world was without Anayona. So he goes to her house with an axe and gets rid of her. He goes into her bedroom and takes her money and jewellery intending to give it to people to justify (in his mind) the murder. But as he comes out of her room he sees her sister standing there, horrified. So the only thing for him to do is to kill her.

Sound familiar?

Even the names are similar.
Anayona - Ana Lucia
Lizeveta - Libby

Anyway, I thought that this was an interesting point. Maybe the writers were influenced by the book?

No, its just something I wanted to read. But I thought I should point it out. (Brainwave) Ben reads a Dosteyevsky book in the hatch! I don't know if it was crime and punishment. But if it was thats either amazing research or a huge coincidence.

No I have only read one book by Dostoevsky, and that is called Demons or some translate is as the Possessed.

It is one of those books that kills you for the first 100 pages, strange names and a bit boring. Then all of a sudden the book comes alive and the rest of the book is quite gripping.

Well worth borrowing from your local library to fill in some spare hours!

Speaking of books. I just finished "Flashforward" written by Robert J. Sawyer. It was mentioned on a LOST forum and has quite a few tie ins with the show as far as time, consciousness, fate versus free will, etc. The book starts out with pushing a button. Sound like some tv show?

Cosmic, I started that book last year and put in down. Was it really that good?

CJ and Annie: I bought that book too. In fact, it is sitting on my bookshelf. I got it right after the season 3 finale because of "Hoff/Drawler" haha, what a nerd I am, but I got a few chapters in and put it down as well. How did it pan out CJ? Is it worth reading? The only thing I remember is the beginning when the guy attacks them. Other than that, I forget what I read.

I was curious about it because of the time displacement angle of it. It was a quick read, moderately interesting, (ould have been more so if I were a true Sci Fi fan) d enjoyable looking for things that would relate to things that have to do with LOST.

It also helped fill the time waiting for the show to start up again.

Good points, maybe I will pick it up again, who knows.

So weird, I was reading this article about The Large Hadron Collider they are turning on today and it mentioned that it was used in the book "Flash Forward" by Robert J. Sawyer. The Sawyer reference of the author is also another reason why I picked the book up in the first place. I thought it was rather..... well, coincidental. Kind of like this Hadron Collider being mentioned in the book that we were just talking about which Lost references.

I was watching Heros earlier and everything is coming together in their season 1.... kind of like everything is coming together here and it kind of freaks me out. I, for one, don't believe in coincidence. I am more of a fate man.... and everything happens for a reason.

Synchronicity happens quite a lot for me KSJ. Very Deepok Choprah. I was reading Flashforward, seeing discussions on the internet about CERN, find out you and JW have the same book, and watching LOST.
