Lost Theories (old site)

Hey, X here from LT. Lt is not dead!!! Users there are... Well, I've
been advertising the site a bit. I'd like to clarify a few things...
One is the link, as I guess I'm required to post.

As we all know, I hate to name names but MYSTARBUCK rallied a bunch of
users to (it doesn't matter who though, so forget it) to send emails to
Jcroft. Jcroft got pissed (as you would get) and shut down the site.
However, the site isn't dead. It's sad to see a lot of members leave
the site, but thats life I guess.

Anyhow, theres a lot of stuff on here talking about Lost theories,
appearently it had a good rep. Anyways, the site is back online and
functioning. Lost theories currently is going to be sold. That does not
meen it's going to be shut offline. It meens a new person will own the
site, and when that happens it will still be up and running, maybe with
a few changes.

I have only one concern that I would like to express. A couple users,
Tracker and... Sorry, can;t remember. It began with an S, are what I
would like to call "siphoning" users off the site! Please stop. You may
think the site is dead, and you probably do want this site to thrive,
but stop getting the people from the old site. If I have to become some
"guard" of the site... (I for one don't get that my self) then so be
it. Unless I am wrong (I might be, I can't be sure how many users are
still loyal to LT and still visit it) I am currently the only member
from the site going there. I have been doing my advertising, and I find
thats nearly fruitless as I can only expect 1-5 people from ever video
on youtube I post my message on will join, and no doubt half the people
will be led to this site, hence making my efforts fruitless. So, with
all due respect for this new and beautiful site, I have to ask several
members to stop encouraging users onto LT. I am not asking users here
to rejoin, as that would make me a hippocrit.

Oh and by the way. For all of those who are arguing that Lt lags and
has bad gateways, and takes 5 minutes to post, thats simple. The site
has gottan a lot of users and theories before the shutdown, and started
to lag a bit. once this site gets hundreds of pages and users and
comments, it may very well start to lag a bit too.

I understand what you are saying, and as the founder and admin of this forum, I do not condone poaching of members from other sites.

However, I have no control over who posts what on LT. I have been keeping one eye on the posts over there, and while all I see is talking about this site - I too would be a hypocrite if I ddint allow you the same courtesy of talking about LT over here. I will move it to the links section where we allow Lost related site links.

Please be aware though, that there is a line (sound familiar lol) and aslong as there is no personal attacks or abuse of any other kind, everyone here is free to discuss the LT v Losties.darkbb thing till Mikalski's cow comes home

Ah, I can't control what they post over at Lt though. However, I wasn't
talking about the sites facing each other. I really don't want to have
an opinion of either, that way I get out of a lot of possible arguments
and such. All I was concerned about was how people were asking members
of LT to come here.

I also understand you have no control what they post there. I just
wanted to get the message to them. Also, we do have some trolls over at
Lt that may post some bad stuff about here, don't take offence from
them though, they're mental. Race_Returns is one of them.

I think any forum on the internet is only going to be as good or as bad as the members that it has. It really is the people and their contributions, ideas and personality that determines the quality of that website.

The membership here is pretty much a subgroup of the lost-theories.com website. So it is simply another venue for us to share our thoughts. I for one like the layout and functionality of this site and I will visit both sites, but I think that I will devote more time here.

I think everyone is glad that jeff Croft has had a change of heart and that we can again visit our old favourite site. However, I am still uncertain that the site will remain open for the long term and I would rather devote my energy to a site that is in the process of becoming a really intelligent, friendly and innovative site to discuss Lost theories.

I do not think it is a war between two sites, I think that both sites are providing a forum for Lost theorists to come together, and we can never have enough venues to hear all the diverse views that exist.

I disagree, X, that people were 'poaching' users. When the LT site was no more, users here discussed how we could communicate the existence of this site to loyal users of LT so they could find each other, that is all. Once LT was back up again, people were simply communicating the message that the well-know names on LT were not lost, they had found this site!

I believe it was well-intentioned because this site won't have trolls and has a future and the people you have mentioned had LT users' best interests at heart.

I have visited LT.com just now. Looked at it and left again. What a shit site. Already saw 20 topics on people whining about problems they got. I am visisting these sites to have some fun and read up on Lost. As I see now, this site has a better hand. And I like the lay out more and the people.

Just that it is back up doesnt mean it got better. I'll read the site once there are some reasonable theories on it, not what they keep posting now

It's weird, because LT was not what I was used to at first. All of my theories were on thefuselage and darkUFO's site, but the thing about LT was that it was different. I know, we got the "bad Gateway" thing all of the time, and our theories were not read once they were on page 2 or 3, which sometimes only took about 1/2 a day to get posted.

Nonetheless, I've always been trying to post my stuff at these sites, as well as 4815162342.com, but I found that I just got the biggest response at LT.com. If I see that 20 people have read and voted on my theory an hour after I posted it, then I know it was good.

This site is awesome, and I like it, but there was something cool and special about the +1 and -1 system. I know on thefuselage the there is a 5 star system, but it is different.

Basically, I like all of the Lost theory sites and I will post my stuff on all of them, just to hear the different views. I like to hear feedback, negative or posititive feedback either way.

I just know that when I try to talk about Lost to people that I work with or see every day, I can't talk about all of the characters because my friends don't know who they are, despite the fact that they have seen every episode.

Common ground is all we need, and I'm glad to find some people that I enjoyed sharing thoughts with over at LT.com. I will still go there to post, but if the site ends any day, at lease I know where to find my friends.

X, I agree with Obscure, I don't know about the others (not THE OTHERS!) but I was not poached, I found this site via AC and I thank him for it.

I really like this new site and I hope that 'Tabula Rasa' does not apply to any LT Trolls, may they fester in their fetid foul filth in that finished festering forum.

Im going to lock this now, as I think its run its course and I dont want to risk bringing any trolls over here by way of retaliation for some of the more negative comments about LT. I wont delete it though.

I have also edited the link in the original post to show just the homepage of LT, not the thread over there it originally pointed to.
