HSM I dissagree as I thought Iron man was fantastic. Just saw the Hulk last nite and it was very good but I loved Ironman. CagedFaraday very good list if you like Frank Miller ( 300, sin city) I just saw a preview for the spirt and it looks very cool, same sincity style.

Saw Wanted last weekend. I wouldn't quite say it was loosely based on the comic. Most of the basic story was there. Very cool special effects. Some of the coolest stuff i've seen since the first Matrix.

Why no love for Spiderman 3? I thought it was awesome. There were almost as many major fight/action scenes in Spidey 3 than in the first two combined! I counted 5 in Spidey 3, against 3 in each of the first two. So what is the problem?
Was there just too much crying/emotion in it for all you toughguys?

Fights and special effects are great, but they should be a tool to tell the story; a good story. I thought #3 had too much going on in it. It was OK.

Yeah that was exactly what I thought as I went through Spidey three. Too much story! And there wasn't enough time to develop them properly.

I'm sorry fellas. I gotta disagree. I thought it was great. The story was developed just fine through the first two movies. And the third movie was a perfect way to wrap it all up. But we all have different opinions.
The only criticism i had with it is that it was too predictable. We all knew Harry and Spidey would team up in the end. But aren't all comic book movies predictable to a point? If you are an avid comic book reader, you are going to know what is gonna happen in the movies because they usually follow right along with the books.

Re: Comic book movies...
I admit i havn't been up to date on my Spidey, but the Spiderman movies were at best, loosely based on the comic history i remember. Then again, i remember playing the game Ultimate Spiderman, and Venom in that story came from some crazy science experiment of Peter Parker's father. So i guess comic book history is in the hands of whoever Stan Lee sells it to.Irocz28 wrote:If you are an avid comic book reader, you are going to know what is gonna happen in the movies because they usually follow right along with the books.
I must disagree and agree that Spiderman 3 was a big a turd as Indy 4, Star Wars I, II, III, Superman: The Quest for Peace, City Slickers 2, Godfather 3, Beverly Hills Cop 3, Battle for the Planet of the Apes, Star Trek 5,Highlander 2, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, X-men 3, Mission Impossible 2, Speed 2, Matrix Revolutions.... yeah... it sucked.

I agree and there were too many thinly veiled nods to a certain *cough* DC *cough* comic book character... You know, the one with a big "S" on their chest and a red cape (no capes!).

Re: Comic book movies...
I love comics and read mostly Marvel, that said I`m a hugefan of Comic book movies but do take it personally when theyare not up to par.
My main problem with Spiderman3 was the overkill, too many villians.
Much like Joel Shoemarkers Batman films when you have two or three
villians than two or three origin stories it can be a bit much.
They should have just done Venom and told a good thorough story.
I also didn`t care for the redemption theme, my evil daddy died
and all I have left is Billions, a company to fun and great friends.
My daughter is sick and all I have are superpowers how could I possible help, might as well steal. Or the worst from are hero
my 70 year old uncle died and all I have is a hot girlfriend an
Aunt who loves me oh and the coolest powers ever, Boo Hoo.
Yea Iroc way too much crying for me.
But I love Spidey so I would still give it an 8 out of ten.
I would give the first one an 8 and a half and Spidey2 a 9.

Link there on news about a Y : The Last Man movie.
Saw Dark Knight last weekend. Tooooooooooooo cool. I think all the hype justified. Also there was the teaser for Watchmen before it. It looked good.... really good. I think I’m going to be pleasantly surprised by that one.

Re: Comic book movies...
I also liked Batman and would give it an A-.
That said if I was to be picky ( and I am) I had a few problems with it.
STOP READING IF YOU DONT WANT ANY SPOILERS!
Casting perfect minus the girl. She was not what I would expect a billionaire playboy and a goldenboy DA to fight over.
The joker should have fell to his death( easily fixed with cgi) after Heath passed away. Not enough joker, no origin.
Too much: mob story, Gordon, Harvey Dent.
It was also too long, Harvey`s story should have ended in the hospital. He also flipped way to easily. One minute Gothams savior the next hes ready to kill a ten year old.
Yes its a comicbook movie, so why do I take it so seriously?
Because its a comic book movie.
Lastly Shame on Christian you should never hit a women even sisters.

I was suprised, but not too much, that they got Maggie Gyllenhaal for that. Shes kinda pretty, in that girl you were good freinds with and always thought she was cute but never dated. So that kinda works along with Bruce Wayne. But, if they got some big-hootered ho-bag to play her it would have been waaaaay worse.

Nah, too corny. They screwed that pooch in the Tim Burton Batman. I giggled a little when he grappled the Joker and started to pull him up. Like "Oh, we ain't letting that sequal gold get flushed away again."
I was hoping to see something like in The Killing Joke about the Joker's origin, but then again, that would i think hurt the story. The less we know about him, the creepier and more mysterious he his.

Harvey Dent really needed to stand alone as a villian in his own sequel. Two-Face is way too complex to cram into the last half hour of one movie

I felt as though i was watching something like The Departed, only this just happend to have a Batman instead of Leo Dicaprio. A very well-written well-acted crime drama. It reminded me a lot of The Long Halloween in how serious and human they made the Batman characters. Remember Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever ***shudder*** uggg.
Lastly Shame on Christian you should never hit a women even sisters.

I agree Lateralus with most of your points but Maggie Gyllenhaal?
Not eye candy for the sake of eye candy but someone a little softer on the eyes that can also act would have been nice.
But you are right it was excellent, probally the best Batman movie yet!

that should link to the trailer for the new Punisher: War Zone movie.
