Do you trust Juliette?
Im still not convinced about her.
We have seen a lot of her backstory making her out to be sweet, caring, and a victim of a possesive ex and quite niave. But we have also seen her be very manipulative, a strong fighter (well against other women anyway lol) and a very convincing liar.
She seems to choose as and when to let people in on what she knows, and only when it suits her. She has been accpeted into the Losties camp it seems, but I still dont trust her.
Your thoughts?

Good subject Jax. I don't know how much time you spent at LT's in its final days but the first (and only) debate we had over there was on the subject of 'Is Jack right to trust Juliet'. This was debated between myself and Angelo, me debating Jack shouldn't trust her.
The shouldn't trust her argument won by quite a margin so you are certainly not alone.
I mean! If she is so trust worthy and she presumably knows (from the files) lots of connections between the losties why isn't she sharing. The most obvious being Jack has a sister on the island.
She will do anything to get off the island including kill (Pickettt) so I wouldn't trsut her at all

I wouldn't say she's trustworthy, I certainly wouldn't knowing all shes done. But as far as the plot is concerned I think she is on the the Losties side - she shares a common goal, which is wanting to get off the island, she did all the things she did before that because back then it looked as if Ben was offering the only way off the island, so she did as she was told. But now shes clearly taken the losties side as now it looks as though she can get home on the freighter.
Its just survival.

I'm not sure. For a bit there, I did. But Now I'm not so sure. I know she wants to get off the island just as bad as anyone else, but it just still seems she is sneeky and manipulative. It wouldn't surprise me if at a certain point she pulls out a gun on one of the Losties because she won't allow them to leave the island or something like that. She seems sincere with Sun's baby and getting her off the island, but deep down, I still think she's very concerned with herself and is just playing things out while learning about the Losties.
Bottom line, she wants off that island.
I do, however, believe she sincerely hates Ben.

Re: Do you trust Juliette?
I never have and probably never will trust Juliet.
I've had this crazy idea that Ben brought Juliet to the island for Jack. To distract Jack from doing what he is "supposed to do".
That and i get the creeps from Elizabeth Mitchell ever since i saw her in Running Scared a couple of years ago where she played a child killer. Pretty creepy stuff.

Not this again. . . Don't make me go back to that place.
Look. I'll keep it simple.
Juliet is trustworthy as far as wanting to help herself and others get off the Island, and/or give birth to children. All the other stuff is about her surviving on the Island she has been imprisoned on.

Re: Do you trust Juliette?
I can't think of the theorist name, my sociology professors would kill me. But its the example of ordinary people taking on difficult roles - and then having those roles define who they are.
There's that experiment that was done on a group of volunteers where a few were deemed guards and the others were deemed inmates. They were placed in a prison-setting and told to take on their roles. The guards - who in their previous settings would never had done this - became abusive and harsh with the inmates.
Its Juliet's setting and her perspective role that's made her quite untrustworthy. At first glance when asked "would you trust her?" I'd say H to the no.
She's surviving.

Puchita - I believe the study you are referring to was conducted by Zimbardo. (Possibly with input from two guys called Haney and Banks, if my college memory serves me correct. Which it probably doesn't.)

Re: Do you trust Juliette?
I don`t! especially after her stating that she,s done horrible things. Now this could be a red herring but I think there is more to her story some good some bad.
