TOPICS TO MOVE TO NEW FORUM!!!!

The new forum build has been a lot quicker than I thought, and we will be ready to move within a couple of weeks! I have a few more mods to find and install, such as RSS, RPG and chatbox (a working one lol) and then we are ready!!

So.....

I have figured out a way to copy some topics over. They wont be with the original dates, and it involves copying each reply individually (as a guest poster adding the username of the original poster) so it will be time consuming. For that reason I dont want to move all the posts in this way....it will just take too long!

I am going to move the Hall of Fame theories over, and the most active/recent topics from theories, but if there is a thread elsewhere on the board you would particularily like to see moved over please link to it here.

As mentioned before, this forum will remain readable as an archive, with links on each forum header on the the new board back to the same forum here.

If anyone would like to sign up to the new forum and use the testing forum to check out the new features and/or suggest some features you would like to see, you can find it here www.losties.net/phpbb3 although its worth noting that when we are ready to move, the url will just be www.losties.net (please use the testing forum only for now)

I noticed the 'new posts' button at the bottom. . . It didn't do anything at the moment when I pressed. . . but will that show me results of 'new threads', or will it show all threads have been recently updated by comments as well as new threads? (I think you know what I am asking!)

If you mean next to the Dharma symbol, that just shows you that a forum with the black symbol other than blue has new posts in it.

There are links at the top though, on the left there is;
~view unanswered posts - which shows topics that have had no replies,
~ view active topics - which shows you the posts which have the most replies,

Then on the right once you log in;
~view new posts - which shows you all the new posts that have been made since you last visited,
~view your posts - which shows you all the topics you have posted in

Hi SP, I have a couple of questions.
1.Will there be a Portal page? I find that is useful as a quick check to see the latest topics to choose from !

2. I also like the topics scroll , where you can click on the latest 9 subjects.

3. Will you also have the ABC Widget ? So actually it is really three questions,and they all pertain to the Portal page.

There is a portal yes, but it is very basic unless I can tweak it a bit.....atm there is no scroll or ability to add widgets, but you can see recent topics etc.

I definitely want to add widgets such as the ABC one and the clocks, and the scrolling topics aswell, but I am waiting on a phpbb3 mod that is currently in development....once it is approved by the phpbb guys I can add it but it may not be for a few months yet

My you have been busy! The site looks great Jax. Sounds like you have it all under control.

I have a theory I have been wanting to post on, so I may wait for the 'Grand Opening' to post it.

Good God, anything technical or computer based I have no clue... yes, I am 25 and should have mastered the computer based sciences, but I have no interest in the like. So, someone will need to hold my hand across the "information super highway" to the new site/design/forum whatever the hell it is.

Go to www.losties.net/phpbb3 and register as you did here.....then if you look in the technical stuff section, there are a couple of user guides Of course it is not officially open yet, but some people have already registered to give valuable feedback on how it is going

Check, ok... I am registered and feel a bit comfortable already in the new home. It is cleaner and just seems easier to use already *which is a huge plus for me*

But, what's the big idea, no Fan Fiction section in the new one Jax?! I see what you're doing here, you are already phasing me out, lol.
