Treesitter introduces herself
I am a L-T refugee as well. The day I joined this forum dates back some weeks now. Indeed I managed to get one of the numbers (15)
Because English isn´t my first language (I am from Germany) I hesitated to post anything on here, till now.
Sitting_in_trees was the name I used at L-T. All I got there was one theory and some comments. I am more of an observer. But I really enjoy reading your thoughts and theories. Anytime the need to contribute is overwhelming you will hear from me, though I guess it´ll be at rare intervalls.
Okay, then.

Despite the English problem I needed some time to get used to the site. First I was confused with all the differences to L-T but I like it better every day.

Willkommen!
OK, I just exhausted half of my German.
Wirklich die Deutsch-Englische Übersetzung auf Babelfish
(http://babelfish.yahoo.com/) ist im Allgemeinen relativ korrekt, wenn
Sie überhaupt etwas über Ihrem englischen Wissen hinaus ausdrücken
müssen.

Danke vielmals für die freundliche Begrüßung.
Stitch, there´s a sense of déjà vu... if my memory serves correct you replied to me in German once before, didn´t you?
For all of you guys, I really feel that I am in good hands on here.
Thanks CF, I´ll have a look at the site you offered.
WTF, I have to be really sure about a thought´s quality before I even consider to create a theory around it. But I hope there will be some.

Stitch, I don´t know either. It was something nice to bid a welcome.
Tracker, I had to use CF´s suggested site to translate your last sentence back into English to get a sense what you wanted to say. No offense though. I appreciate the efforts.

Willkommen Treesitter.
My mom is from Germany and I am embarrassed to say that the above is all the German I know...unless you want to hear me count to 100 in german.

Welcome to the site hun. This one seems to be soooo much more positive and worth while. My uncle lives over in Munich, Germany. He loves it over there.

Hi treesitter, I remember you from lost-theories. When I was a little girl my great-grandfather called me Snickelfritz. He was from Germany. Welcome.

Re: Treesitter introduces herself
You all are really sweet
I brushed up my English through watching as many series and movie streams as I could find on the internet. First I was nothing but bored with German TV and after I consulted the dictionary regularly I got a better understanding and simply fell in love with the English language. Well, then I stumbled upon Lost... I was hooked... searched for theory sites (that got me reading in English)... and now I have a try at writing it. Maybe some day I even feel comfortable speaking.
I know I am not perfect and there are many things I have to improve (prepositions, tenses etc.). But learning a language which isn´t your native one is a process, right? So, all I have to do is overcome my shyness and give it a try.
Hi Eda, I have to say, your German is the best from all I´ve seen so far. I never visited Munich. The same applies to lots of other cities in Germany. Well, I am 24 years old and hardly know my own country. I never really became acquainted with the city I live in, which is Berlin btw.

English is such a confusing an irrational language. I believe it's the hardest to learn aside from Japanese. You do have an advantage, though, in that it is partly based on German (Thank you Saxons).
Ironically, I've wanted to learn German for many years now. This may be my impetus. Somebody has to know if people are being "flamed" in German.

Re: Treesitter introduces herself
It´s a common currency that German is more difficult to learn for foreigners than English might be. Singular and plural are easier to handle in English. Even the cases are not that tricky.
The German language is pretty neat. One example: There are three definite articles, one for each gender. And sometimes I feel that it´s hard to explain your thoughts if you haven´t the right word on hand. (That´s often the problem with my therapist - expressing my feelings to him doesn´t get easier. ) If I can´t remember the explicit phrase in English I just talk around it (and hope someone will understand.)
For example: the word set has 63 subitems in my dictionary. By contrast I haven´t found one German word which can be used in just half as much different ways.
