Anyone else disapointed with Octagon/Dharma etc. at comic-con?
I personally was very disapointed with the lack of teasers and info given to us at comic-con.
1. The Dharma Booth video "leak" with professor Haliwax was not anything we didn't already know.
-We already know people can time travel (the bunnies, the chamber in the orchid). So what is so special that a video was sent through time? Big woop.
- The only thing I really gleaned from the recruitment booth and video is that it seems like next season will involve dharma recruitment, which really doesn't excite me all too much.
2. Darlton didn't give any real teasers for season 5.
-I almost wonder if this season will have any (island) mysteries for us. I love the characters and all, but the nature of the island is a big part of the show that I feel they are skimping on this comming season.
3. Last comic-con had a lot of spoilers and teasers and the awesome Orchid video. This time there was nothing on par with that.
I just feel like comic-con was supposed to make us excited to see the next season. I sort of feel like I'm just waiting until season 6 in order to really get the same fireworks as season 4. Of course I will still watch religiously, but I worry that I won't be as satisfied.
Anyone have any opinions on this?

I watched all that I could find on the Comic-Con youtube videos, read whatever's out there so far on the 'net about it, and agree there wasn't much in the way of "anything" that was at all even a helpful "Gee we're sorry you have to wait so long" type tidbit thrown out. So "disappointing" is a good word for the way it left me feeling.

Thanks raven I hadn`t heard anything about Comic-con yet.
I am excited about the Darma recruitment as we still don`t know much about Darma and any info would help. We shall see.

It would seem that the Dharma experience at Comic-Con is pretty much a boon for people who can make it out to San Diego. They get to do something cool... we get nothing.
Maybe I'm wrong.

I think you're right. The show out there looked like a lot of fun, fan talk, not too much in the way of information but all in all a good time. Us getting "nothing" is pretty much the case.

Come on Molly with your brains and CagedF`s goodlooks (maybe I should switch that) I say we make are own videos. We have already made our own story lines. We could make our own show!
Ok just kidding yes I wish I made it. Maybe we could all plan a trip next year as it will be the last. We can all wear LT&D T-shirts.

This is the video (with Dr. Candle) I was particularly disapointed with in case anyone hasn't seen it: http://livelost.blogspot.com/2008/07/full-dharma-video-with-dr-candle.html
I mean how is this in any way as tantalizing as the Orchid video that was introduced at comic-con last year?
The island traveled in space and time. The fact that this video did is hardly note worthy.
Also this is a link to a youtube chanel with the comic-con interviews with Darlton: https://www.youtube.com/user/tapdawg

That wasn't too bad. It seems like Faraday was somehow with Candle on the island durring the purge and made this video as a warning for someone 30(?) years in the future to receive and do... something... about... something. hmmmm There's some good discussion fuel. how did Faraday and Chang meet and when. and why the great time difference between the transmission and reception of the message(like Faraday's rocket experiment?)

I think the video is decent enough. Exactly when and where is it being broadcast? Why is it so fuzzy? Why does the person (whoever they are) claim the thing won't work anyway?
As for the Q&A - I thought there were some interesting points raised. The one that got me most intriguied was the claim that the flashback/flashforward convention of storytelling was going to be superceded by a new means of narrative convention. I have absolutely no idea what that means but I am very interested to find out.
Oh yeah - and we were also given confirmation that we would definitely find out Rousseau's story. (Not a Rousseau flashback - but we would find out her story.) Again this is a very interesting tidbit as far as I am concerned.
Outside of the show, for me, everyone involved with Lost owes us nothing. The fact that they make such efforts to keep us amused (like with the ARG) over the break is a worthy endeavour. (Sure, I know it's also to keep us 'warm' so we don't slope off and lose interest but, really, without the ARG would we not await the next season anyway?)
I say be happy we've got anything and, besides, are we done with the other seasons now? We've discussed them all and understand it all now?

Hey don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the panel and video to an extent. I thought we heard some things to look forward to, but I was just disapointed that it wasn't as amazing as last year's.
You have to admit that the orchid video was fuel for so many more mind blowing theories than this new video could ever be. I remember just sitting there dumb-founded replaying the bunnies over and over. I may have even gasped. With the new video I just like, "oh okay."
As for the "They don't owe us anything," statement. I am aware that they are not contractually obligated to progressively become more and more entertaining as the seasons go on. I was just making an honest and harmless observation. I have not denounced Lost or gotten on a soap box dehumanizing the writers. I just stated that in my opinion 2008 comic-con provided less fun than last year's.
