This is in response to the funeral song post by WTF.

On the lighter side of things, what would be, or what was, your wedding song? For me it would be Brad Paisley's "She's Everything", because, lets face it guys, the wedding is all about the girl. And this is the perfect song to tell the girl how much she means to you.

"Dont want to miss a thing" by Aerosmith. It has been "our song" since we met, and a friend of ours who is a frickin guitar genius is going to play it acoustic as we walk down the aisle Very Happy

Okay, now you have to be specific...which wedding
My first?
My second?
Or my third?

first: "I've had the time of my life" Dirty dancing soundtrack
second: "These Arms" by All-4-One
third (and current) "That's Amore'" Dean Martin

So I've been married 3 times...so has Starbuck

What can I say, we're both into recycling!

Well, you both bring a lot of experience to the relationship. Very Happy

Will chose this song. It was a looooong time ago but I remember thinking WTF? when it was played for my consideration before the wedding, but I went along with it. It was cheesy but cute.

When that fateful day occurs, I would like it to be "I Love You" by Climax Blues Band.

I have no clue who this family is but the video is awesome. The photo progression from past to present is flawless.

After many years we still hear this song, whether in a store, in the car, or somewhere and look over at each other and smile. It said it then and it says it now.

This was not played at my wedding, but it is one of my husbands and my favorite songs from that time. Bobby Darin was one of the great all time performers,( I think!)This thread brought back a lot of great memories of the great songs from the fifties. We will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary 2009.

Just watched that family's video and it was done so well Sham. Had me smiling a poignant type smile all the time I was watching it!

My aunt loved the song "Mack the Knife" for such a long time.........then she found out what the words meant and was shocked. She was what was called a spinster years ago, the type to wear pink little "shrug" sweaters and was very mild and meek. It was a true shocker for her katesawjack. The End of Innocence. Shocked

Kate, I love that song but i will bet you a million dollars no one knows all the words to it without reading the lyrics. Every time i hear it, I think he is saying something different. The only thing i know for sure is ...."ole Lucy Brown" (I think anyway!!)

Happy (soon) 50th anniversary. You were a child bride I see.

This is the first time I've ever looked at the lyrics. No wonder I never knew what he was saying!

Oh Suket Tawdry?????

Oh the shark babe, has such teeth, dear
And he shows them, pearly white
Just a jack knife, has old Macheath, babe
And he keeps it, out of sight

You know when that shark bites, with his teeth, dear
Scarlet billows, start to spread
And fancy gloves though, wears old Macheath, babe
So there's never, never a trace of red.

On the sidewalk, oh Sunday morning don't ya know?
Lies a body, just oozing life
And someone's sneaking round the corner
Could that be our boy Mack the knife?

From a tug boat down by the river don't ya know?
There’s a cement bag just droppin' on down,
That cement’s there, it's there for the weight, dear.
Five’ll get you ten old Macheath's back in town

D'ya'hear 'bout Louie Miller he disappeared, baby
After drawing out all his hard earned cash.
And now Macheath spends, he spends just like a, like a sailor
Could it be? Could it be? Could it be our boy's done something rash?

Jenny Diver, Oh Sukey Tawdry
Look out Miss Lotte Lenya, and old Lucy Brown
Yeah the line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macheath's back in town

I said Jenny diver, Oh Sukey Tawdry
Look out Miss Lotte Lenya, and old Lucy Brown
Yeah the line forms on the right, babe
Now that Macheath's back in town

Look out old Macky is back WOOOOW

Shocked Tracker, I am wildly applauding you!!! You beat me to it, I was just looking up the lyrics!! LOL I did remember most of them, but was surprised to see he was saying 'Macheath'. I always thought he was singing Macky the whole way through!!

Congrats for finding them first!!!!

You know, it's funny, I've been trying to think of my wedding song since this thread went up and I just can't! Being divorced has nothing to do with it, I should remember the song. It was probably something like "We've Only Just Begun" because that's what everyone had that year, but the one thing I DO remember is that my ex desperately wanted the band to play "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by Peter,Paul and Mary as we left the reception. It would have been nice, but they didn't know it!! He was so ticked off, it almost ruined the rest of the day!!

Boy, I guess I should have seen that one coming!!! LOL

These are the words from Bobby Darins Official site. They are a little different than what you found. I tried to copy them here, but couldn't. There is some trivia on there about the song.
