Re: battlestar Galactica site
Thanks for the link, I just visited the site and the first post I read was a quote that BSG will be having a super long break in the middle of Season 4?? This show was meant to get me through the Lost hiatus!

Sorry WTF
The earliest that we are probably gonna see BSG again is in January 2009.
SciFi Network execs are greedy assholes

Re: battlestar Galactica site
WTF I was also planning on BSG for the summer as well now I have to endure the wait for two shows.
They did end on a good note I did not expect for it to end as it did.

Re: battlestar Galactica site
MSHL, just as with Southpark, BSG is another series that I just never got around to watching.
Now obviously I realise the redundancy of asking you:
"Hey MSHL, Should I watch BSG?"
as I may get a biased answer!
so instead I ask:
"Hey MSHL, CONVINCE me to watch BSG...."
Please bear in Mind, that someone, a lady of some particular persuasion as it happens, persuaded me to watch 'Friends', and I have never valued her persuasory abilities since.
Someone else talked me into watching Primeval (UK show) and I nearly stopped talking to them.
Then again, I was also persuaded to watch LOST, when I thought it was just going to be another boring drama with people who were stranded! Now That person is always on my xmas card list.
Where will you end up!?!?!

SC....all I will say is that I was persuaded to watch BSG as I was Lost, and it drew me in as Lost did
Its not as good as Lost, nothing comes close IMHO, but it is engaging and interesting with a bit of mystery too!
The first few episodes are a bit slow, but once you get past that it ROCKS!

thanks Alaina, I just bought it, please tell me the clunkety-clunks are not still in it! even as a child I used to know I could outrun those things! the cyber-men from Doctor Who could have done them in a hundered meters sprint any day and they were none too fast by any standards!
so I have just bought season 1, was there a mini-series first? or like a pilot or something? cheers

Re: battlestar Galactica site
Okay Solar chap. Here's why I think BSG is such a fantastic show.
First, let me tell you why I hate most TV shows and movies...I call it the "Make Han Solo a good guy" syndrome.
Han solo, smuggler, criminal and killer. He shoots the bounty hunter Greedo in the original movie before Greedo shoots him. By the time you get to the remastered Star Wars movies twenty years later they digitally manipulate Han Solo so he shoots second! This completely changes his character.
Also, for example, the show M*A*S*H*...in the first season Hawkey is a womanizer, Hot Lips is a bitch, Frank is an Ass. But by the end of the show's run, everybody is a nice touchy-feely sweetheart.
That sucks.
If a character is a bad guy then keep him a bad guy. If your heros have faults, don't erase those faults to make them more likeable. It is dishonest and lazy on the part of the writers.
That is why I like BSG. The bad guys get worse and even the good guys get worse too!
It shows real people, some good, some not so good and some indifferent dealing with the most horrific event imaginable-the near total annihalation of the human race.
It deals with real issues without flinching and the ending is not always happy. Good guys die and bad guys can profit and no apologies are made for it.
Some of the issues dealt with so far are: Abortion, terrorism, suicide bombings, military ocupation, torture and all of the seven deadly sins.
No time warps, aliens or gimmicky sci-fi explainations to solve problems. Just ordinary people who can sometimes rise up to do heroic things while still not being able to escape their basic flaws.
It is, quite simply, some of the best drama you will ever see. It can be dark but that is one of it's greatest strengths.
I think Lost is some of the best TV ever and certainly a great deal of fun. But (and don't kill me for saying this) in the areas of sheer drama, social self-examination and the sometimes harsh realities of truth, I think BSG occasionally surpasses it.
But it is a different kind of show than Lost so comparisons are difficult. However, if you give it the same attention that you give Lost and watch it from the beginning, I know you will find it just as addictive.
As we BSG fans like to say when comparing it to the original 1970's version:
This ain't your daddy's Battlestar!
I sound like a commercial, don't I?

Re: battlestar Galactica site
Thats great cheers MSHL!
I can tell you like it
LOL! unfortunately for me I was born in 1970, so I guess I am the daddy here!
the Han solo thing is deep, but I like it. If Greedo went on a double-date with the elephant man, John Merrick would be the good looker.
I do not like a happy ending and I like annhilation, so it is sold!
I want the harsh realites of truth as you put it!
I can't compare anything to LOST, it grabbed me like Smokey, and it blew my mind like room 23.
I don't think I have ever fantasized as much with any other show. I admit to writing in to 'Jim'll fix it' (Old UK show where kids got to' live their dreams') asking to slide down the Batpole with Batman and then have a lightsabre fight with Darth Vader (I was7), but it never happened the buggers!
But now as an adult, usually after a few beers, I really wished I could work for Dharma (with a transfer just before the purge of course) or duplicate bunnnies (I would mainly duplicate Apollo Bars and several of the female losties) and invite people, especially LT trolls through the sonic fence when it was on, give myself an EM blast which sends me back to avoid meeting some old girlfriends in the first place, and to join Shambs in that Van (CF's LOST-FAN-FICTION-POST) for some Macutcheon and some Dharma Doobies.
Now That is what I am looking for from a show, so BSG has a lot of competition, but I am going to give it a fair chance, it does sound very good indeedski.
Thanks for the input y'all!

LOL! where on earth did you find that picture!! cracked me right up!
actually the bottom row aint that dis-similar to mine (they were stamped out by a prisoner at work a few years back) but I don't have a gap in the middle!
apparently I have been informed that colour tv wasn't prevalent in the U.K, my turf, until 1972! which means by my own laughing, i had inadvertently included myself! LOL!
(Solarchap is my real site name, but obviously not my real life name! Is that what you meant?
waiting impatiently for this BSG to turn up, hoping the postie will bring it tomorrow morning...
