Clair is NOT dead and Kate brings Aaron back to the island
I am now exercising my right to be wishy-washy by saying that Claire is not dead.
Here's why.
1. Kate has a dream in which Claire warns her to not bring Aaron back to the island.
2. Charlie is told by Desmond that if he doesn't die, Claire does not get on the helicopter with Aaron to leave the island.
3. If Claire and Aaron do NOT get on the helicopter to be rescued that means that Charlie's death was for nothing which will REALLY piss of a lot of Lost fans.
4. So the only way for Desmond's vision to be correct is that Claire is alive, Kate and the 06 return to the island (including baby Aaron) and some time in the final season, Claire and Aaron get on a helicopter and are rescued. This is how Desmond's prophecy will be fulfilled.
But none of this can happen unless Claire is alive and Kate brings Aaron back to the island against Claire's wishes.
I can't imagine the writers simply ignoring Charlie's sacrifice which was triggered by Desmond's vision. Many assumed before the beginning of this season that the six Losties who got off the island would include Claire and Aaron getting on the chopper. But it didn't.
Though Desmond didn't say WHEN, these things will happen but not until the FINAL season. In this way, all will be happy because Claire is alive, she and Aaron are rescued on the chopper, Desmond's vision comes true and Charlie dies a noble and heroic death.
How's that for arguing against myself?

Good. I've just moaned about you arguing the other way on the other post. . . this addresses the balance!

That makes sense......plus I'm not sure it was Claire giving the warning to Kate to not bring Aaron back, perhaps he is key in some grander scheme that the island or some other entity wants to prevent?
If it was Claire, I can only see it being a motherly warning because there is so much "bad stuff" happening and she sees him as being safer off island.

Actually there were two refernces made to a 'him' and in both cases it was assumed that the him in question was Aaron.
This may be wrong!
In the finale of season 3, Kate mentioned that he had to get back as 'he' would be getting worried. The general assumption was that Kate was referring to Sawyer, or some other significant other but no one ever thought that it could have meant Aaron.
In season 4 Charlie via Hurley tells Jack "You are not supposed to raise him", and in a dream Claire tells Kate "Do not being him back to the island". Now in these cases we assume, like the characters, except Hurley, that the him refers to Aaron.
My guess is the 'him' that should not be raised by Jack and the 'him' that Kate should not bring back to the island is actually John Locke, not Aaron.
I think that the island has a way of raising the dead and there is something about bringing him back that presents a danger!

Re: Clair is NOT dead and Kate brings Aaron back to the island
So now we have another "Who is HE?" referring to mystery. Claire could have been referring to Aaron, John, or (drumroll please) Benjamin Linus.

MSHL....I had forgotten all about Desmond's flash concerning Claire Aaron and the helicopter, I know I know, how could I have forgotten that, but I did.
Stictch, I like it, kinda goes with the whole 're-incarnated-which-of-these-items-belonged-to-you-already' thing.
good work chaps.

Good point Stitch. They could very well be reffering to Locke. The writers love throwing us those curves.

Excellent Stitch, I had never even considered that "he" might not be referring to someone other than Aaron...hmmmmm, much to think about
