Life on Mars US remake...what have they done???
I have just watched the trailer for the show on youtube. It looks absolutely tragic.
The original was spectacular event television and I now fear that it will be tarnished by this guff that has been produced.

Did you ever see the US re-make of Cracker?
Wow. That was bad.
I heard they did a US version of Spaced, too. That, by all accounts, stank up the place, too.

If you haven't already, THS, watch Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. Made by the Spaced guys, and both awesome.

The Cracker remake was painful to watch. Why dont the US networks show original UK shows? I mean could you imagine the UK remaking Lost?
Johnny Vegas as Hurley.
Harry Hill as Locke!

Shaun of the dead is maybe my favourite comedy film, along with life of brian, airplane and team america. And Hot Fuzz was great too.

I didn't say that quote you attributed to me, MSHL!
I believe the US does show some UK stuff. Doctor Who is popular, isn't it? And I know all kinds of of our comedies get shown on various cable channels.
To be fair, I think the US Office was a decent job - it's just impossible for us UK people to watch it having become so familiar with our David Brent.
It'd be like the UK taking Curb Your Enthusiasm and re-making it with British people. US people would see it and complain that it doesn't work and they should have just showed their version instead. And they'd be right. I think it works the other way, too.

I said US networks. Not cable channels which are largely local.
Doctor Who, which is going from strength to strength and could stand shoulder to shoulder with the finest US shows, is showed on BBC America I believe. Or whatever its called.
My point is why are ABC not showing the superior UK Life on Mars rather than ruining it with a new version. Waste of money.
