Is Jin dead?

I dont want him to be dead, but I think he is. I mean sure the island could of saved him but 500 pounds of C4 is a ton of C4. However another part of me says that he is alive because Sun thinks so it could be like Rose and Beranard, where she kept saying he was alive. So the thinking man in me thinks 500 pounds of C4 will blow the shit out of anything however, Sun has faith that Jin is alive which makes me think he is.

I hope not.

Does Sun have faith that he is still alive? I think I may have missed that.

I'd say he's dead. Hope he's not but, but if he isn't then he was stuck out in the middle of the ocean on his own with no where to go. Given the flash forwards are 3 years in the future and he still hasn't turned up then it seems unlikely.

I would love to see him still alive....I guess he could have jumped at the last minute and been saved from the blast as he was under water, resurfacing to see the copter off in the distance, and swimming for the island. Saywer made it, i'm sure Jin could too.

But is that likely to have happened? I fear not

I'm going to say that Sun believes he is.
Perhaps this is why she is entangled with Widmore.
I think she is manipulating him for information, namely the location of the island.

But then again, he could just be dead.

I think he is probably dead. Unfortunately Even if he was able to jump off and not get hit by the debri, where would he swim to? The island dissapeared too quickly I think

I believe that Sun thinks he might still be alive though. She never had confirmation, only Jack saying he didn't see him anywhere, so I think she's still holding on to a bit of hope and that's why she's taking action with Widmore

Sun's possible motivations for finding the island:

1. Revenge - She blames Ben/Locke for killing Jin and she knows Widmore finding the island is their worst nightmare - Jin's dead

2. Truth - Rumor has that people survived and the island is out there. She needs to find out if Jin is alive - Jin's a question mark

3. Rescue - She's confirmed that her beloved Jin lives. She wants to save him - Jin's alive

I think it's #3. She finds out from Jeremy Bentham (a.k.a. Locke) that Jin and the others are alive and need help and she's willing to get in bed with Widmore to get back to the island. I think the writers are setting us up for this scenario.

I think its #3 too Sham.
I feel sure that Jin lives.

I think every time someone feels the need to point out something stupidly typed, it should be in the form of a Hurley Says. Somehow being pointed out as a complete feeb seems to sting less coming from Hurley.

As to the question at hand... even if the island won't let people die, being in a million pieces might make it difficult to be a useful member of the cast.

(Plus, the real answer to the question is, did D. D. Kim pick up that last DUI or not.)

Two words: Remember Patchy? If that guy could survive the sonic fence and a spear to the chest, surely Jin could have jumped to safety.

I think the use of the word "ton" was meant to mean "a lot of" or "buku amounts" in this case, but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity... dude.

I like your idea to use "Hurely says" in that fashion.

pops up and tells Michael he can go immediately after Michael tells Jin to go.

Coincidence? Maybe.

But maybe this is what Michael had to do, before the island would let him go.

This is even considering treesitter's comment today about the evil island...Maybe Jin's alive for evil purposes. (see treesitter's comment in my Penny Widmore post).
