Claire is trapped

I can vaguely remember claire going to a pyschic (richard malkin) who turned out to be a fraud after but i think the episode was somewhere in series 2. He warned Claire that she should raise the baby herself but Claire wanted to give it up for adoption but after he read her future he saw a disturbing vision and told her that a couple in los angeles (i think) were willing to take her baby and he payed her money to get on the flight with his own cash. This could tell us viewers that Aaron is not meant for another mother and must return to the island. But i dont understand why Jacob or claires dad would seperate them on the island. Strange. Maybe the island wants claire on the island on her own and decides that the baby should stay off the island, but Claire visits Kate in a dream and tells her that she shouldnt be raising it??! maybe claire is in two consciousnesses, and one side of her wants her baby back while the other is controlled by her father or Jacob, so she might be trapped. And also Charlie told Hurley to tell jack that he should tell kate, lol not to raise the baby. im LOST.

Raised By Another - Season One: Claire meets Richard Malkin who first tells her she must raise the baby and no one else otherwise bad things will happen. Then he changes his mind and says there is a couple in L.A. who will take the child and he gets her on Flight 815.

The interpretation of this has to be that Malkin foresaw the crash of Oceanic 815 and ensured Claire was on it so that she would have to raise the child herself.

? - Season Two: Mr. Eko encounters Richard Malkin after he hears that his daughter had apparently come back to life after being drowned in a frozen lake. There he tells Mr. Eko he is a fraud and cannot see the future at all.

The question here is whether Malkin is lying about being a fraud. Personally, I don't think he is. He might not be actually psychic, rather he has knowledge of the future the same way Ms. Hawking (jewellery store woman) has knowledge of the future. Possibly time travel, or genuine psychic phenomena. Either way, I think he lied to Eko and does have power and intended Claire to get to the Island.

So. Christian splitting Claire and Aaron up perhaps suggests that Malkin is part of a different 'side'? That Malkin and Christian are on separate factions, where one side has a plan for one set of events to play out, and the likes of Christian are working to plot out something else entirely.

In my opinion, destiny was trying to get Claire on board the plane. So it gave Richard Malkin a vision, doesnt matter what it was as long as she got on the plane. And Claire would take this seriously as he is supposed to be a phsycic.

Well, by getting on Oceanic flight 815 Aaron did end up living with a couple in LA....Jack & Kate.

I think AC has it right (as usual)(but I can not agree with you on Cloverfield ) when he says that there are different sides involved and I always thought it was just too much of a coincidence that the 'supposed' fraud got it right about the plane crash and that his daughter later has freaky-deakey experiences relating to Death and visions.

THS I didn't know Dark side of the moon appealed to someone as young as yourself, but it's a definitive album and it's great that you know it!

Actually a lot of the music I like now, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, was the 'boring old stuff' my dad listened to. Funny how things change....

Pink Floyd are ace My mum wouldnt let me listen to them when I was a kid as she thought they were religious fantatics (my mum was a staunch athiest lol) how she came to that conclusion I have no idea.

Anyway back on topic.....Blonde I had that very same thought myself, his vision for all intents and purposes has come true with Aaron being with a couple in LA!

I would hardly call Jack and Kate a couple. They stuck it out for a little while but, basically, Kate is bringing Aaron up on her own.

With a nanny, obviously.

So I don't think Jack and Kate are anything to do with the 'couple' Malkin spoke of. It was as Charlie called it - the couple did not exist, but were just a ploy to get Claire on the plane.

We don't know the outcome of Kate & Jack yet. I'm just sayin'

Didn't we actually see that couple in an episode, or was that a different thing? Remember when Claire was going to sign the adoption papers and her pen wouldn't write...were they the couple in LA?

No, I don't think so, I think that they were the couple Claire was originally going to sign over to, but then she changed her mind because of what the physcic said. The couple in LA, we never saw.
